Happy Holidays

Good afternoon Elko families,

As we move forward to enjoy this winter break, we wish you a Happy Holiday along with the joys of this season. Please get your child to totally unplug and enjoy this break from virtual learning. This virtual environment has presented us with several challenges, but as we exit today to enjoy this holiday season, we wanted to share with you some of the big achievements we have made learning virtually.

We are so thankful for the dedicated staff we have at Elko supporting learning and extracurricular programs during this virtual time. We have a few teachers to highlight in this communication, but we have several teachers who work earnestly to encourage and support student achievement and success on a daily basis.

As we bring closure to this 2020 season, please take a peep at what has been going on behind the scenes.

Ms. Shambley is the sponsor of our school newspaper. The SOAR Report created by the newspaper staff did a marvelous job of bringing the Elko news directly to you. Over the past two months, the newspaper staff has been meeting virtually with Ms. Shambley to bring you Volume 1 of The Soar Report. Please enjoy and look out for more news in the future.

Team Excel has made its way to Elko Middle School. Team Excel brings a little healthy competition to move teams of students to reach their desired goals. Ms. Duperior, Mr. Greene, and Ms. LeSane serve as Team Excel Coaches. We have a few student representatives from Team Excel who volunteered to assist with this video. Please take time to see what’s happening after school with this group. A special “thank you” to Ms. LeSane for creating this video: https://youtu.be/StV0WoZW0Pw

And to get you into the holiday spirit, look at what our music department created! We have some of our Band, Chorus, and Strings’ students featured in our 2020 Virtual Winter Music Concert. These students are under the leadership of Mr. Frank Chlorie (Band) and Ms. Kristen Melzer (Chorus and Strings). Enjoy the video! (Please do not adjust your volume, the beginning shows the reality of our virtual school.)

Have a Happy Holiday!
