MISSION Elko Middle School is a comprehensive middle school in Henrico County Public Schools. We aim to inspire educational excellence among all students in their journey from middle to high school. To achieve our goal, Elko will increase the percentage of students demonstrating proficiency in grade-level content by 10% in ELA, Math, & Science. SCHOOL LUNCHES & FOOD DELVIVEIES FOR STUDENTS | Breakfast and lunch are prepared daily for students. These meals are free to all students. Food deliveries for students will not be allowed this year. Deliveries via Uber, Instacart, etc., will be returned to the sender. Parents or Guardians cannot drop off food from outside vendors (McDonald's, Chic Fil A, etc.) to students at any time during the school day. |
CLINIC UPDATES | The clinic will be open August 12 – 16, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please bring in any medications, medical supplies, or doctor’s orders/notes your student will need for the school year. Contact Nurse Barrett at klbarrett@henrico.k12.va.us if you have any further questions. |
IMMUNIZATIONS | All rising 7th grade students must have the required immunization shots before starting school on August 19, 2024. Students who attend school on the first day without proper vaccinations must return home. Immunization requirements for 2024-2025 school attendance: Tdap vaccine: The vaccine is required for students entering seventh grade. Students ages 11 or older may be vaccinated. HPV vaccine: Students ages 11 or older may be vaccinated. The vaccine is not required for school attendance. MenACWY vaccine: The vaccine is required for students entering seventh and 12th grade. BELL SCHEDULE | School Begins at 8:05 and ends at 3:15 pm. Please ensure you do not drop off your student before 8 am. EARLY DISMISSALS: Our early dismissal cut off time is 2:30 pm. Students will not be called out of class after this time but may be notified that they are a car rider. Car riders are dismissed at 3:15 following the afternoon announcements. ATTENDANCE UPDATES | 1. Please review the Attendance Flier for attendance updates and reminders for this year. If you have any questions, please email our Attendance Secretary, Mrs. Nolte, at mlnolte@henrico.k12.va.us 2. To ensure that we are following safety and security protocols, there are some changes to the flow in our front office and lobby area. After you ring the doorbell and are let into the school, there is a table set up right inside the door to better assist your needs. 1. If you are coming to pick up a student for an early dismissal, please state the student’s name at the intercom box when you are buzzed in. Once inside, please hold your ID up to the window for verification and sign the student out on the pink clipboard. Once your ID has been verified, your student will be called to the office. 2. If you are coming to drop off an item for a student, please write their name on a sticky note, label the item, and place it in one of the plastic bins. Someone will come retrieve the item and call the student to the office. 3. If you are coming to drop off paperwork, please be sure it’s labeled with the student’s name and/or staff member’s name and place it in the appropriate folder.
