ATTENDANCE UPDATES | How to report a student absence: · Complete our Attendance Google Form: https://tinyurl.com/elkoattendance · Send a ParentSquare message to Mallory Nolte · Email Mrs. Nolte: mlnolte@henrico.k12.va.us Early Dismissal Reminders: · The early dismissal cut-off time is 2:30. Students will not be called for early dismissals after this time. If you arrive after 2:30, we will let your student know they are a car rider and they will come down when we dismiss at 3:15. · Anyone picking a student up for an early dismissal must be listed as a contact in PowerSchool. This can be updated through your Parent Portal account. If someone is not listed in PowerSchool, the student will not be called for early dismissal. Emails for early dismissals will not be accepted. |
SCHOOL COUNSELING UPDATES
| Schedule Changes Elko’s Schedule Change Window will open September 3rd and close September 17th. During this window you will be able to complete a google form requesting a schedule change for your student. https://bit.ly/32odMCS if you have any questions about this form or about the options available to your student, please reach out to your student’s school counselor. Elko Learning Lab Learning Lab will start September 9th! Learning Lab is a chance for students to receive in person tutoring for classes that they are struggling with. Learning Lab will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays either before school (7-8am) or after school (3:30 to 5:00pm). You must sign up your student by noon the day prior to tutoring (i.e. signup by noon on Monday for tutoring on Tuesday. This will allow us to make sure we have a teacher available to work with your student. Please stay tuned for more information. IB Application – for 6th and 7th Graders The Middle School IB Program at Fairfield Middle School is accepting applications for next year!!! The window will be open Thursday, September 12th and close Monday, October 7th. The link to apply at will be coming soon but until then please see the Timeline, in person Open House on Thursday September 19th, and Video about the Fairfield Middle School IB program. 8th Grade Specialty Center - Applications Specialty Center and ACE center application window is quickly approaching! There is a specialty center or ACE center in Henrico for almost any student. On Monday September 23rd we will have a guest speaker here to talk to our 8th graders about HCPS’ Specialty Centers. School Counseling will also have a table set-up at Back to School Night to answer questions about Specialty Centers. If your student is interested in a Specialty Center, please plan to attend one of the three open houses here in Henrico. Saturday 9/21 from 10am to 2pm at Highland Springs HS, Thursday 9/26 from 6pm to 8:30pm at Tucker HS, and online as part of the Bridge Builders Academy Tuesday 10/1. Address Affidavits Students who are enrolled at Elko with an address affidavit, must submit address affidavit information every year. This year all address affidavits were due at the beginning of July. Students who do not have a current address affidavit will be withdrawn by mid-September. WORLD’S FINEST CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER
| Get ready for our World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser starting September 9th! Students need to return the attached permission slip to bring a box of chocolate home. Each box has 30 bars, sold at $2 each. If your child takes a box, they are responsible for turning in the money by September 30th. All proceeds will support student events, clubs, and activities throughout the year. Your support is greatly appreciated! |
