Elko Middle School is committed to fostering a growth mindset by providing a high-quality education and data-driven instruction within a safe and inclusive environment.

THE THEME FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR:

MISSION imPOSSIBLE

ACADEMICS

Eagles,

We’ve officially wrapped up our first week of testing, and the energy at Elko Middle School has been fantastic! Our students truly rose to the occasion—they were engaged, punctual, and showed incredible diligence on their assessments.

Even more exciting? The preliminary results are looking very promising. While these scores are not yet final, we are already seeing clear growth compared to the 2024-25 school year. Your support at home is making a tangible difference!

Week Two: Reminders for Success

As we head into our second week of assessments, we need your continued partnership to ensure a smooth testing environment:

Zero-Tolerance Cell Phone Policy: Per the Virginia Department of Education, cell phones are strictly prohibited in testing sessions. If a student is found with a phone during testing, they will receive a 0 and will not be permitted to make up the exam. Please help us remind students to leave devices in their lockers.

Battery Power: Please ensure your student arrives with a fully charged laptop each morning. We do not have loaner chargers available, and a dead battery can cause significant delays and stress for the student.

Thank you for everything you do to support Elko Middle School. Let's keep this momentum going!

Go Eagles!

TEACHER APPRECIATON WEEK MAY 4-8, 2026

TAW 2026

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and we have the best team in Henrico County! Our teachers work tirelessly to provide Elko students with top-tier educational opportunities every single day.

We invite our entire community to join the celebration:

Send a Note: A quick email or a handwritten "thank you" goes a long way in making a teacher’s day.

Gifts: If you are so inclined, gift cards are always a greatly appreciated gesture of thanks.

SOL PROGRAM

SOL

Once SOL testing begins, parents will receive information via Parent Square to access student test reports for all Spring 2026 SOL Non-Writing Tests in the Virginia Assessment Parent Portal, excluding the Integrated Reading and Writing component of the Grade 5 and 8 Reading test. Reports are posted around two weeks after testing. Families will have access to score reports for each test attempt, including expedited retakes. In addition to the Student Detail by Question report (SDBQ), a family-friendly Parent Report will be provided. Student details and claim code information must be entered in "Find Test Results" after each test to receive the most current information.

Since families will have timely access to test results during the testing window, if school staff receive

individual requests from parents to share scores, please direct families to the VDOE Parent Portal or school administrators may provide.

Click here to access the HCPS Parent Portal.
